Dr. Alexis Kalergis, Full Professor at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC), was honored with the “2026 Distinguished PhD Alum” award, granted by the Alumni Association of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, where he completed his doctoral studies. He was selected from among 1,500 candidates.
This recognition not only highlights his distinguished career in immunology, but also his concrete contribution to the development of innovation in health, including advances in vaccines, infectious diseases, and immunotherapeutic strategies with global impact. His work has helped bridge basic science and real-world applications, positioning Chile as a relevant actor in cutting-edge biomedical research.
The ceremony was attended by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of PUC, Dr. Mario Ponce, together with representatives of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and its Alumni Association, strengthening international engagement and scientific collaboration.
