Dr. Susan Bueno honored by international distinction for patented biomedical innovation

Dr. Susan Bueno, Principal Researcher at BMRC and Full Professor at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC), has received international recognition through the BRIPC Best Practice Cases in Intellectual Property 2024 program, promoted by the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA). This recognition acknowledges a biomedical innovation developed by her research team and protected by a patent granted in China, positioning among international benchmark cases in innovation, technology transfer, and intellectual property management.

The featured technology is about a method that helps determine the severity of viral respiratory infections through the use of immunological biomarkers, with the potential to support faster and more accurate clinical assessment of patients. This milestone reflects the collaborative work carried out by researchers, professionals, and students in Dr. Bueno’s laboratory, together with teams from PUC and IMII, and reaffirms their commitment to research excellence, the training of advanced human capital, and the development of health-related innovation with societal impact.
